HHS Trap Team
To be eligible for participation in the Hollister Trap Team a student must be a Hollister FFA Member who has paid dues for the current school year. Students may not receive any disciplinary action resulting in suspension either BIP or ACER during the current semester (participation for the remainder of the semester will be suspended). Students may not have any weapons offenses (this will result in permanent suspension from the trapshooting team). Students must successfully complete the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Hunter Education Safety Program and provide proof of completion with a valid Missouri Hunter Education Card or Missouri Hunter ID number on a current MDC Heritage Card. In addition, students must complete all registration information and obtain a parent/guardian signature on the release form.
Students are expected to be on time for practices, meetings, and competitions with proper equipment present and ready. Students should come to practices and competitions with the key ideas of safety, sportsmanship, and pride. Respect should be shown to teammates, advisors, and other supporters. Students are encouraged to have fun while showing self-control during competitions, practices, and at school.
The Hollister Trap Team has been competing since 2015 and has won a USCTA Trap League State Championship. Members shoot in FFA and MTA leagues as well.
Tryouts and Practices
If 5 members join the team there will be no tryouts and all students will earn a spot on the team. If there are between five and 10 members wishing to join, students will shoot at the first 3 practices to be slated on the first team of five. If there are 10, members will shoot at the first three practices to be ranked one through 10. If there are more than 10 the same process will be applied. Sign-ups will be held during the first week of school every year and the parent meeting will be held on the second Tuesday of the school year.
Trapshooting is a year-long sport.
