About Hollister Middle School

Over 200 students make up the 5th & 6th grade student body of our school. Each student is an individual, growing at a different rate, learning in a different way, and achieving at a different level. It is our vision that we address each and every student as a unique learner, with different strengths and challenges. We strive to provide a quality education to all who enter through the doors, and we will do whatever it takes to help each student find success. Presently, our average attendance at the middle school is 95%.

Our staff is comprised of highly qualified professionals who strive to do what is best for the students. There are 10 regular classroom teachers, 2 special education teachers, 1 Title I teacher, 1 physical education teacher, and 4 paraprofessionals that are housed in the middle school. Five teachers (art, music, band, technology, and library) are shared with the junior high and high school. The average years of teaching experience is 10 years.

All students participate in four core areas: reading/writing (communication arts), mathematics, science, and social studies. They also attend art, music, PE, library and technology classes throughout the week.

There are a variety of activities that students are able to participate in during and after school hours. Character assemblies are scheduled each month in conjunction with the FirstPlace program in Taney County. Clubs are also held monthly and provide students with the opportunity to learn something new.

After school activities such as socials, family nights, science night, etc., are scheduled throughout the year.

HMS partners with K-Life for our socials, and Ozarks Big Brothers, Big Sisters for our mentoring program.
