The
boys and girls of Hollister Elementary reach out to the community in
many ways. The faculty and staff try to teach the students to give back
as a means of showing thanks for the many resources that are provided
for them.
Recycling
Before and after school you can walk the halls of the elementary and
find students collecting recyclables—paper, cans, cardboard. Members
of the community are welcome to bring their paper waste to the elementary
where it can be turned into reusable resources.
Giving
to the Community
The students of the elementary give to the community through the donation
of food and goods during the holidays. Each year over a thousand items
are donated by the boys and girls of Hollister to help the community
members who are in need.
The
Arts
The school reaches out to the community through its arts programs. During
certain seasons you may find the Hollister Elementary Tiger Talents
Art Club out decorating the community with murals and filling the school
grounds with art of all kinds. The art club is a prestigious group of
K – 4 students who are chosen on a quarterly basis to further
hone their art skills by doing various projects. Many local artisans
present their crafts and skills to the children who are in the art club.
The students take field trips to view professional works of art at local
galleries.
The
elementary children present music programs for the community. The local
concerts range from singing for PTO meetings to special holiday offerings.
